25–28th May, 2023
Nuuk Nordic Culture Festival is a multi arts biennial culture festival, and one of the biggest returning cultural events in Greenland. During the week, the festival hosts artists from a lot of different art forms from across all of the north. The audience can explore music, stage performance, seminars, exhibition, literature, workshops and much, much more. Nuuk Nordic happens once every other year.
Performance Art from Finland is a group which consists of six experienced artists; Katri Kainulainen, Maximilian Latva, Tomasz Szrama, Antti Ahonen, Linda Granfors and Aura Hakuri – all dedicated to working with performance art. They are touring across the Nordic Countries in order to present Finnish performance art and make it more known in all of the corners of the North. Greenland and Nuuk Nordic Culture Festival is their first stop on this exciting journey. This trip is supported from Arts Promotion Centre Finland/Taike, Föreningen Konstsamfundet and the Nordic Culture Point.
This year Nuuk Nordic Culture Festival is happening on the 25th to the 28th of May under the theme “Unity”. Shared (colonial) history, connections, overlap and community are common themes for this year’s exhibitions and projects. Some of the exhibitions and projects are the solo exhibition with Julie Edel Hardenberg, the talk scene “Reflecting Nuuk Nordic” in collaboration with Dáiddadállu in Katuaq and the cave workshop with “A secret club” and Lisbeth Karline Poulsen.
